Language Arts:   Literacy Centres/Valentines writing

• Expository writing - House tour - prewriting plan - students are writing about a tour of their house.  This could be the favorite rooms in their own house or could be a historic, friends, relatives or dream house.

No sight words this week as it is a short week.

Continue reading nightly and recording.

Language Arts; List 12 practice/spelling test

• Literacy Centres
• Expository writing- writing an introduction paragraph - starter sentence about the main topic with a question to grab the readers attention.  Follow up the main ideas in the next 2 sentences.
• writing a concluding paragraph - a series of questions about topic and main ideas.  End with a restatement of topic.
• Students worked on these 2 paragraphs about exciting rooms in their houses.
• Chinese New Year - questions/journal writing/book/rice and dumpling snack/made Chinese lanterns.
• Groundhog Day reading
